The EBU’s Animal welfare group is restarting and we welcome new members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our purpose is to lobby for animal welfare in Brussels, to develop EU law leading to reduced suffering for animals in the food industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Buddhism, the human being is not the centre of the universe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Buddhism, humans and the world we live in were not created by a supreme being who also created animals to be our food, to give us their skins and to serve us in many ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rather, we humans are part of nature, just like all other forms of life on planet Earth. Though we have a kind of intelligence which is different from that of animals, this difference does not imply superiority and does not give us a kind of \u2018divine right\u2019 to decide over the life and death of other forms of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
