{"id":980,"date":"2026-04-23T06:31:05","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T06:31:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/europeanbuddhistunion.com\/?page_id=980"},"modified":"2026-07-14T14:46:16","modified_gmt":"2026-07-14T12:46:16","slug":"ethics-committee-and-values","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/europeanbuddhistunion.com\/pt\/ethics-committee-and-values\/","title":{"rendered":"The EBU&#8217;s Ethics Committee and code of ethics"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The EBU&#8217;s Ethics Committee and code of ethics<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-104e89f6 alignfull uagb-is-root-container\"><div class=\"uagb-container-inner-blocks-wrap\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The EBU is committed to supporting EBU member organisations to develop their capacity to address ethical concerns arising within the activities of their own organisations, and to address ethical concerns relating to the work of the EBU itself. <br><br>Accordingly, the EBU\u2019s Ethics Committee was set up by the EBU Council in 2024, comprising women and men from several different Buddhist traditions and countries in Europe working in accordance the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/europeanbuddhistunion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/EBU-Ethics-Protocol-v1.9.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"5746\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EBU Code of Ethics and Complaints Procedure<\/a>. <span style=\"color: #cf2e2e\" class=\"dsgo-text-style dsgo-text-style\">This document includes the secure email address you can use to contact the Committe<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #cf2e2e\" class=\"dsgo-text-style dsgo-text-style\">e<\/span> and explains the two types of ethical concern to which they can respond:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. those relating to the work of the EBU itself<br>2. those relating to a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/europeanbuddhistunion.com\/pt\/member\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/europeanbuddhistunion.com\/member\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">member organisation of the EBU<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As each member organisation is legally responsible for itself, the EBU Ethics Committee has no authority to address a matter arising within a member organisation; however they can ask the member organisation what has been done about it. They have no authority at all in respect of ethical matters relating to Buddhist organisations which are not members of the EBU.<br><br>Where they receive a concern the Ethics Committee will appoint a small working group to consider the matter, composed of people of more than one gender and without conflicts of interest or loyalty in relation to this particular
