The EBU and interfaith dialogue

Promotion and protection of freedom of religion or belief

In the face of growing polarisation in Europe, the EBU values inter-faith and inter-convictional dialogue as conditions for democratic cohesion, conflict prevention and living together in harmony in a European culture based on human dignity, equality and respect. Below you can see particular ways in which we express this value.

Interreligious and Interconvictional dialogue (CIRICD & NIRIC)

The EBU has participatory status in the
Committee for Interreligious and Interconvictional Dialogue of the Conference of INGOS in the Council of Europe (CIRICD)
and is active in various aspects of CINGO’s work including the
Network for Inter-Religious & Inter-Convictional Dialogue (NIRIC).

Article 17 Dialogue

Bridging Beliefs

Bridging Beliefs is a two-year programme funded by the European Commission, to bring together local authorities, civil society organisations and religious organisations including the EBU, as well as citizens from seven European countries, to strengthen democratic participation and social cohesion through structured interfaith dialogue.
